William Forsythe, M.Ed., LPC, NCC, is a multiple state licensed, nationally certified, experienced, and highly passionate mental health counselor. He provides a counseling style which use multi-specialty clinical techniques and is available to help clients in both Pittsburgh and Monroeville. As a person, William believes in the importance of achieving balance in all aspects of emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational life. Over the course of his career as a therapist, which has spanned the last decade, he has been able to support a range of clients in their achievement toward healing, from children, teenagers, couples, families, and adults in both individual and group settings. Williams style of counseling is a constructive approach which aims to enhance wellness, strategically create a system of a broad range of coping skills which then sustain greater balance and inner strength. People working through depression, anxiety, anger, chronic mental health diagnosis, grief, trauma, relationship issues, LGBTQIA+, stress management, couples and family concerns, and other psychological disorders have been able to find new ways to relate to themselves and others and empower themselves through the evidence-based therapy techniques that William is highly trained to provide.
William has lived in New York City for the last 10 years and his clinical experience focused on providing therapy to individuals and families including those with autism and spectrum related disorders. William has worked with those clients in a variety of way including providing couples, family counseling, and social skills training to these clients. William’s cites that his comprehensive work with individuals who have spectrum related disorders as the source of his deep and motivating understanding for the great capacity each person has to become stronger, whole, and more emotionally balanced. William is trained in providing cognitive behavioral therapy as well as a warm relational approach, his therapy techniques are centered on mindfulness and awareness. It is through this therapy style which allows for clients to gain a deeper understanding of who they are and develop the necessary plan and skills to move toward the new place where they would like their life to grow.
Williams scholarly background includes an impressive academic record and completion of an elite training program. William earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Penn State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Soon after he entered the esteemed Columbia University and completed a Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology. Outside of his professional life, William enjoys reading anything with a cover including science fiction, fantasy, philosophy, psychology, and cosmology. Williams personal wellness routine makes time for him to enjoy practicing two forms of martial arts: Tai Chi and Aikido. William, always musically inclined since his earliest childhood days, he now has a hobby of playing musical melodies on his guitar and trombone. William is a lover of food and drink and even dapples in home brewing which is something that he loves to share with friends and family. When William has the time, he calls himself ‘a wanderer’ and he often likes to take exotic international trips in order to expand his horizons and foster a greater understanding of the world.
